Working alongside families

Family-centred support

Support planned with the whole household in mind — because what works for one person has to work for the people around them too.

What family-centred support can include

  • An open conversation with the person and their family about goals, routines and worries
  • Agreeing which tasks a support worker takes on and which stay with the family
  • Consistent communication about how visits are going, at the frequency the family prefers
  • Adjusting the schedule around school, work, shift patterns and other commitments
  • Reviewing the arrangement as circumstances change, rather than leaving it fixed

Who it may help

Households where several people share caregiving, families supporting an adult relative while managing work and children, and anyone who wants support arranged transparently rather than handed over. The person receiving support stays at the centre of decisions; family involvement is set at the level they are comfortable with.

Our scope and how we work

All Evercare support is non-medical. We do not provide nursing, counselling, therapy, case management or clinical assessment, and we do not speak on a family's behalf to other organizations. What we offer is dependable community support and clear, respectful communication.

Families often combine this with respite support and daily living support.
