Support for family caregivers

Respite support

Planned, short-term cover so the person who normally provides care can step away for a few hours — knowing routines will be followed.

What respite support can include

  • A few hours of non-medical support at home while a family caregiver rests, works or attends to other commitments
  • Keeping the person's usual routine going — meals, activities, a walk, quiet company
  • Household tasks during the visit where that is what would help most
  • A written handover of how the visit went, when the family wants one
  • Regular weekly cover, or occasional support arranged in advance

Who it may help

Parents, partners and adult children who provide most of the day-to-day support for a family member. Caregiving is sustainable when there is room to breathe; respite is a practical way to build that room into the week rather than waiting until it becomes urgent.

Our scope and how we work

Respite from Evercare is non-medical. We do not provide nursing, clinical care or medical supervision, and we cannot take on needs that require a health professional. Before the first visit we go through routines, preferences and anything a worker needs to know so the time feels safe and familiar for everyone.

Respite pairs naturally with family-centred support and companion support. Availability is arranged case by case — please contact us to discuss.
